{Yes, that is Jenna Marbles, and yes she is wearing a Captain America tank and a green sequin fannyback.}
It's me, isn't it?!?!??? Ta-Da!!!!!
JK. It's Jenna Marbles! Ta-Da again!!!! I'm fairly certain you all know of my love for Jenna Marbles. I mean, I reference her here, here, and here. So you can probably imagine the reaction I had right there on the streets of Santa Monica outside the Hot Dog on a Stick shack when I spotted one Jenna Marbles (and her boyfriend Max) holding a corndog and wearing a green sequin fanny pack. If you can't imagine that reaction, the truth is I shat myself. But just a little. And then I screamed, "JENNA MARBLES!!!!???" And then she turned and spotted me and was all "oh heyyyyy, what's goin' on?" And then I ran to her faster than I even knew I was capable of and asked to get a picture with her. She was totally cool and super nice about it. She asked if it was okay that she was holding a corn dog to which I replied "yes, it's even better that way." I don't know what that means, but it just felt right in the moment. And then I yelled at Kyle to hurry over and snap a picture of us. And I didn't even worry about what a total geek I looked like because fuck man, I'm standing next to Jenna Marbles!!!!!! And then I told her that I just landed in LA that day and meeting her basically made my
Because I know you'll ask, no, I didn't mention my blog to her. Do I regret it? Absolutely. Because clearly she would have read it and realized we indeed would be best friends forever, but ya know what? I figure I got lucky once, I'll probably get lucky again. And ya know what?? I was right, because the very next day, I met Liam Sullivan, better known as Kelly from "Shoes" and "Cunningham Muffins" fame!!!
I think know I scared him, because I literally scurried over to him whilst he was deep in conversation with one of the salespeople at Dylan's Candy Bar and just yelled "Omigod, Shoes!" at him. But then he smiled real shy like and laughed. At me, but he laughed nevertheless. And then of course, I accosted him for a picture as well. And just like Jenna Marbles he was more than happy to oblige. I asked him what he was working on these days and he said something, but again, I blacked out. I rambled on about how I was obsessed with his videos in college and that I went to college in Ohio, so "yay! you made it all the way to the Midwest!" and he laughed at me some more. I love making people laugh who make me laugh. I'm pretty sure he would have continued talking with me as long as I wanted (he seemed genuinely surprised to be recognized/fawned over), but I didn't know what else to say and Kyle was getting hungry, so I wrapped it up.
Again, I forgot to mention my blog in the chaos of my fandom, but I'm pretty sure stuff like this happens in three's, which means I still have a chance at striking the big time. Or maybe I'M the third. OMG. Meta, you guys.
What famous people have you met?? Were they cool IRL?? Where did you meet them???
haha I just watched both of his videos, not for the first time but to just reminisce. "im ganna betch slap you, shitbag!"

ReplyDeleteYou and YouTube stars, man! I am impressed!! Also: Jenna Marbles is quite literally my hero. And I was totally stalking her when she was in those pictures with her green fanny pack on twitter. Ugh, the amount of jealousy I have for you right now is over the moon. So jealous and so happy you met her!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVEEEEE Jenna Marbles. I always watch her videos in bed before we go to sleep and bust up laughing and my boyfriend has no idea why I love it so much. You just can't find that kind of funny. Does she live in LA? I thought she lived back east?
ReplyDeleteI saw the Kardashians in Vegas one time.. thats about all I've got.
Omg i'm SO jealous!! I freaking love Jenna Marbles!
ReplyDeleteOMG seriously? I live here and I have yet to see a celebrity just out doing their daily thing.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS AWESEOME. I honestly feel like you are the perfect person to meet JM. Looks like you had an amazing trip, I need to get to LA and test my luck out!
ReplyDeleteI hung out with John Mayer at the club Tenjune in NY. He was weird so I drank all his $800 vodka and split. I'm pretty sure he was texting with Jessica Simpson the whole time (yeah that's how long ago this was).

Erin

Haha this post is hilarious. I met Hilary Swank once when I was working at PetSmart. She was in town filming the HBO movie "Iron Jawed Angels" about the women's suffrage movement. Anyway, I was straightening cans of cat food, and she came up and asked me where all our dog beds were, and asked me to help her carry her stuff around and to ring her up, which I did, and then she asked me for a discount on a dog toy because it "smelled weird." Which I gave her. And then I went around the store telling everyone I'd just met, but no one cared because it was 2003 and she hadn't made "Million Dollar Baby" yet and apparently no one knew who she was except me.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSSS!!!! How awesome! LA treated you well!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Kinda' like Christmas came early for you! Excellent eye to spot them in random, unexpected places.
ReplyDelete"Is it okay that I hold a corndog?" Ha- can totally picture that comment being made. What a fun run-in, love her!
ReplyDeleteah you lucky girl! jenna is fab!
ReplyDeleteFound your site via Chowstalker- you are a trip! I've been to Santa Monica a couple times in the past year- I very well may have walked by famous people and not even known it; I'm a big fan of Liam but probably wouldn't have realized it was him. Super jelly that you got to meet him! The first time I was out there I did meet Tucker Max and chat with him for a bit- he was giving a presentation at a health symposium at UCLA and was surprisingly pleasant!
