Wedding Choos

Change is the worst, amirightladies? I've seen many a blog that once was about things I actually cared about (i.e., food, make up, clothes) turn into wedding diaries, detailing the most inconsequential detail of some stranger’s wedding that I was NOT invited to. And so, I’m not doing that to you. Don’t get me wrong—I will plan the most gorgeous, over the top wedding you've ever laid your eyes on…all the gold and glitter will likely burn your corneas if you stare at it too long. But I don’t think it’s right to flip the focus of CupcakesOMG! from food and self-involvement to weddings. And self-involvement.

That said, I assume you’re interested in the “good stuff,” like jewelry and Save the Dates (coming soon) and of course, the shoes. So while I won’t bore you with the details of putting a guest list together (just elope!) or meeting the weirdest, and I mean BIZZAREST, florist of my lifeeeeeeee, I will show you my wedding Choos, because I know that’s the stuff you really care about.

A couple weeks ago, I went to Saks to get a pair of shoes stretched out a bit with a friend from work. As we were sitting there waiting for our Cinderella step-sister shoes to be refitted, she pointed out a pair of Jimmy Choo d’Orsay pumps in a glittery champagne color. While I had intended to buy a pair of Louboutains, I thought there was no harm in at least trying them on. They were so damn comfortable that I decided I needed Jimmy Choos instead.

Blah blah blah, these are the shoes I bought! I never saw them online—still can’t find them, they might be from last season?—but they only had one pair left in the store and it just kinda felt like destiny, ya know? Just as the other pair was, these are so comfortable! Not that I’d ever be caught dead doing one, but I’m pretty sure I could run a marathon in these.

And while I’m typically a 4.5 inch-heel kinda girl, these are only 2 ¼, which I think will be better for helping me last through the night. When you pay this much for a pair of shoes, it’s foolish to take them off after a couple hours, says me and every woman ever!!

Yeah, those are Swarovski crystals staring back at you. Don't look for too long--they might blind ya!
So tell me married/engaged ladies--did you splurge big on wedding day shoes too? Were they Choos?? Do you think it's absurd to spend a month's rent on shoes (of course it is)?? What's your wedding day footwear philosophy?

  2. So pretty! Lots of sparkly glamorousness but I wouldn't expect anything less! I know you are trying to not be the girl who blogs about her wedding but I can't wait to see more details!

  3. Found you via Megan at Freckled Italian.... I am getting married later this year and shoes are one thing I am so excited for. I plan on splurging but I have no idea how far I'm going to take it with the $$$. I am firstly most excited to find the perfect jewelry and then shoes will come after that (so they match, obvi). I am for sure planning on a mid heel for practical purposes.

PS. I'm one week and 2 days paleo :D

  4. If those are what make you happy, then spend all the damn money you want on shoes! I'm not a shoe kinda girl, so I actually went barefoot at my wedding, but that my friend, is how you and I are entirely different people. I know your wedding is going to be glam though, and I cannot wait to see pictures.

  5. My sister splurged on navy manolo blahniks and I borrowed them for a day. And I'm actually one of those people that likes all the boring wedding details! so share more!

  6. Omg gorgeous. I didn't let myself even consider splurging on the shoes (not really a shoe gal anyway, although ones like those are TEMPTING!!!) and so I wore gold sparkly flats from Shoe Carnival under my wedding dress. $15.99 and I'll wear them over and over until they fall apart :)

  7. YES!!! These are so stunning. I'm definitely wearing a very flat shoe in your wedding. I like to be short.

  8. WOW-- beautiful! I didn't splurge on anything for my wedding because my parents paid and my mom has absolutely no regard for fashion or designers... she wouldn't understand.

Can't wait to read more wedding updates!!

P.S. Totally feel ya on the guest list... just wait for tracking down RSVPs and arranging the seating chart!

  11. wedding choos. I like what you did there.

I didn't splurge on shoes, though I did love them. But, I got married 3+ years ago. If I was planning it right now? I think there's a very good chance I would get some fancypants shoes. Here's mine if this link works (it's legit, I'm not a virusy spammer). http://tinyurl.com/byxwwv8

  19. I actually found my DREAM purple shoes and they were on sale for $40 online, HOWEVER... I had the largest blister I have ever had after wearing them and I changed into cowgirl boots for the reception, so I only wore them a couple hours for pictures before the ceremony and the actual ceremony... so if they are comfy.. your feet will be glad you splurged...

  20. I am NOT a shoe person, but damn these are gorgeous! Very pretty and elegant. Great taste!

  21. Those are GORGEOUS! I didn't want to spend too much on my wedding shoes and everything in my price range was super ugly (all ivory/cream shoes under $100 are like, grandma church shoes. blech) but I did end up finding a pair at like Ross of all places for $20. They were sparkly and cute, and I wore them once and never again, so it wasn't a big deal.

  22. Gorgeous shoes! They will be perfect for your wedding and married life after :) I definitely splurged on mine too... Manolo Blahnik for the big day and Louboutin for the honeymoon. Worth every penny... I wear them ALL the time! Congrats!

  24. You nailed it with 'Choos'. Love it.

And they are gorgeous and sparkly and all kinds of wonderful!

  25. Love these! I splurged on my wedding shoes as well. Spent $950 on a gorgeous pair of Miu Mius. May seem crazy to many but those shoes made me feel so special and I treasure them. Can't wait to hopefully pass them on to my daugter one day.

  26. Am I really the only one who wants to hear about the florist!?

  27. These shoes are beautiful. Great choice.
I had the hardest time finding my wedding shoes. I looked everywhere, cheap and very expensive, but it was very difficoult to find what I needed. The main thing was,a 2-inches heel at the most, unless I wanted to be taller than my husband to be. And I didn't want flats either. And they had to be all white, because the dress had coral details that would clash with any swarowski
Luckily, he brought me to a couple of stores, and I found my shoes in the last one. But it was such a long process!
