Manic(ure) Monday

 {Toes: Essie A Crewed Interest; Fingers: Essie Play Date}

Hey, you guys. I hope your hangover from St. Paddy's day has finally passed. This is shaping up to be an eventful week here at CupcakesOMG!

  • I'm starting a new job next week so this is my last week at my current job.
  • The Hunger Games comes out Friday and of course, I already have my tickets.
  • Kyle and I are on the hunt for some decent patio furniture, now that the weather has finally warmed up enough to justify having one.
  • I'm giving some serious though to growing a small herb garden. Should I do this??

So, what I'm trying to say is, spring is in the air, and just as I do with every significant seasonal change, I'm sporting a new  polish palette. I'm pretty obsessed with the color on my toes--it's just a light enough peach that it makes me feel like my skin should be a few several shades darker and my blood alcohol content a few points higher. What I'm saying is, I should be lounging oceanside with a fruity cocktail in my hand.

How are you kicking off spring so far? Should I start an herb garden? HOW DO I EVEN DO THAT??

New job?!? I need deets... And well spring has been here forever since its been 85+ for 2 wks!! Ugh also I can't say enough that YES you need an herb garden!! If you do, put mint by itself cause it will take everything over. Then do groups of two or three in other pots cause the tastes could rub off on each other.... We are thinking of doing a full garden?? We had one at our old house and I want one again, if not just to save on groceries haha

I am in love with both of those colors! You should totally do an herb garden! I'm starting one right now!

First of all, new job!??! Where at?! Doing what?!

Second of all, for the herb garden thing, DO IT! I bought one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/EarthBox-1010002-Garden-Terra-Cotta/dp/B000JUW8RE

It is the perfect size and quality for a deck in an apartment building, it keeps the herbs at a manageable size, and wont be messy with dirt and water everywhere! Buy one now, best spring choice you can make for your cooking and fresh herb needs :o) (maybe I should be their spokes person?! haha!)

Definitely do an herb garden. Just remember to keep herbs with similar water needs together. (No lavender in the same pot as basil, for instance.)

Also, no mint in the same pot as anything. It will overtake the whole dirt area!

Love the nail polish! I really wanted to do a garden this year, but our yard is a disaster right now! Maybe next year?

I especially love the color on your toes. SO much in fact, that I will go in search of it this week. As for the herb garden, I think it sounds like a fabulous idea. In fact, I copied your pal Emilee and just popped over to Amazon and bought you the same herb garden she just purchased. It arrives on Wednesday!

I also have to say I love you have a friend who says, "where at?" I bet she also says "where you at?" when she calls you on the phone.

You're welcome!

What cute toes you have! Yes to the herb garden--just buy already sprouted ones and stick em in a pot of soil. Way better (and easier, lazier, whatever) than waiting for them to grow. Unless you're into all that nurturing.

And triple yes to the herb garden. Will change your life!

I have that exact same shade on my toe nails. I love it. And can you believe that a gay friend of mine called me out for being too girly because of that colour! hahaha

Pretty nail color, love the glitter, natch.

YES, grow the garden. Check out aerogarden if you don't want one outside. I've heard great things about them.

yes to the herb garden! we had one last year - cilantro, basil and tomatoes. we were stocked for the entire summer. totally worth it.

funny thing is...i had no idea how to start one either, so tyler's mom started it for us and we snagged the pots when the seeds started to grow. so i guess you can say we cheated. whatever. if you figure it out, let me know will ya?

You should totes start an herb garden. I think most herbs are actually pretty hardy plants and easy to grow. Your finger and toe nail polish looks really good together. Every time I come here, I feel compelled to go paint my nailsies.

Yes to the herb garden. It's so convenient having fresh herbs in your backyard that you can just snip for cooking. Check out www.herbcompanion.com for lots and lots of herbal info. My beginning garden suggestions include basil, parsley, lemon balm, cilantro, thyme and peppermint. They are all easy to grow, do well in containers and taste great in a variety of dishes. Hope this helps!

GROW AN HERB GARDEN! I started a little indoor herb garden this year. It's really small but will be so perfect for cooking with fresh herbs. I'm so excited!!!

Happy Monday friend!
