Once reserved for only the likes of teen heart throbs, bold fashion statements, and crappy movies, the last couple of years, even food has jumped on the "here one minute, gone the next" bandwagon.
Before cupcakes took over the internets, bacon wielded its mighty power over all things viral. Indeed, bacon was/is everywhere, from your Thanksgiving dinner to your lipgloss. Not only was bacon going to clog your arteries, it was going to clog your computer screen too!
But then, seemingly out of nowhere, cupcakes knocked bacon of its high horse and officially took over food fad superiority this year.

What's interesting to note is the steady popularity bacon has maintained over the past 6 years. Kinda debunks the whole "fad" thing to begin with, doesn't it? Perhaps there is no "the next cupcake", as I've said time and time again, but instead just a more hearty appreciation for good food. After all, when's the last time you listened to William Hung's CD or watched Peanut Butter Jelly Time? Yeah, exactly. Bacon AND cupcakes have staying power. Take note, Biebs.
