In-N-Out Burger: I Just Wanna See What it's All About

If you’ve ever read a recap following a vacation I’ve been on, you’ll know it’s generally all about the food for me. I’ll spend weeks in advance plotting out the tasty delights I plan to devour with little regard for my body when I know I’m going on a trip. But when Kyle and I went to LA last weekend, I spent more time day dreaming about the celebrities I would meet (and did) and where I would get discovered for my “big break.” Clearly, I'm still trying to figure that one out. We walked up and down Venice Beach and Santa Monica, and only once did I think about stopping for a churro! I was so taken with the sunshine, the sea breeze, the lack of humidity, and the potential shopping opportunities, that I didn’t even care about what we ate. With one exception.

In-N-Out Burger has intrigued me from the first time I heard about it in college. This was the first time I lived outside of Texas, and in the melting pot that is Ohio, I met people from the land of beautiful people: California. They told me tales of surfing, earthquakes, and celebrities, but they also pined over In-N-Out burgers and their secret menu. So, minutes after landing in LA, I told Kyle’s brother that one of the few requirements of the trip was that we go to In-N-Out. “I just wanna see what it’s all about,” I said. Little did I know, that’s actually their slogan. I’m practically the Don Draper of the fast food world!!!

After hiking to the Hollowood sign, we were in need of fuel. I don’t know about you, but when I think of refueling this ol’ gas tank, I think of meat, cheese, and animal sauce. So, we high-tailed it over to In-N-Out and ordered cheeseburgers and cheese fries, Animal style, which basically means grilled onions and secret sauce (I think it’s thousand island…not so secret anymore!!).

To say this was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had would not be an overstatement. It was literally one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I like my patties thin, like these, and the way they cheese melted all over the meat…just stop. I can’t. And these fries??? Just look at them. There are no words.

I finished my entire burger and fries. I don't even feel a little bit bad about it. Oh, and I forgot to mention that we also split a chocolate milkshake (delicious). You gotta go, man!!!

Who’s been to In-N-Out? Am I exaggerating here or is it quite possible one of the best burger joints of all time? What’s your favorite burger place???

Friday Fun Find: Jenna Marbles on the Streets of Santa Monica

{Yes, that is Jenna Marbles, and yes she is wearing a Captain America tank and a green sequin fannyback.}

I wanna do a magic trick for you. Okay, close your eyes. Do it. I swear nobody thinks you look weird. Except for that guy over there. He thought you were hot until you became that weirdo that just closes your eyes for long periods of time for no reason, kinda like that college art professor who lectured for 45 minutes about the symbolism of Jasper Johns' work with his eyes closed for reasons we may NEVER know!!!!! Anyway, are they closed??? Okay, now imagine someone you admire. Not like Jennifer Aniston because she's always in amazing shape (dammit, how does she do that??). Like, someone who you think you would be best friends with if you knew them in real life...who you aspire to be like some day. Someone who challenges you to be better at whatever it is that you want to be better at. Someone who uses lots of swear words and makes it look really cool. Someone who is simultaneously hot and hilarious and smart. You have that person in your mind?

It's me, isn't it?!?!??? Ta-Da!!!!!

JK. It's Jenna Marbles! Ta-Da again!!!! I'm fairly certain you all know of my love for Jenna Marbles. I mean, I reference her herehere, and here. So you can probably imagine the reaction I had right there on the streets of Santa Monica outside the Hot Dog on a Stick shack when I spotted one Jenna Marbles (and her boyfriend Max) holding a corndog and wearing a green sequin fanny pack. If you can't imagine that reaction, the truth is I shat myself. But just a little. And then I screamed, "JENNA MARBLES!!!!???" And then she turned and spotted me and was all "oh heyyyyy, what's goin' on?" And then I ran to her faster than I even knew I was capable of and asked to get a picture with her. She was totally cool and super nice about it. She asked if it was okay that she was holding a corn dog to which I replied "yes, it's even better that way." I don't know what that means, but it just felt right in the moment. And then I yelled at Kyle to hurry over and snap a picture of us. And I didn't even worry about what a total geek I looked like because fuck man, I'm standing next to Jenna Marbles!!!!!! And then I told her that I just landed in LA that day and meeting her basically made my life trip. And she was like "Welcome to LA!" I don't know if she actually said that--I kinda blacked out for a minute because I mean, like, I couldn't believe I had just met her!!! I do remember telling her to say hi to Kermit and Marbles for me, because there's nothing that says "I'm a stalker, be my friend" like "I know your pets names'."

Because I know you'll ask, no, I didn't mention my blog to her. Do I regret it? Absolutely. Because clearly she would have read it and realized we indeed would be best friends forever, but ya know what? I figure I got lucky once, I'll probably get lucky again. And ya know what?? I was right, because the very next day, I met Liam Sullivan, better known as Kelly from "Shoes" and "Cunningham Muffins" fame!!!
I think know I scared him, because I literally scurried over to him whilst he was deep in conversation with one of the salespeople at Dylan's Candy Bar and just yelled "Omigod, Shoes!" at him. But then he smiled real shy like and laughed. At me, but he laughed nevertheless. And then of course, I accosted him for a picture as well. And just like Jenna Marbles he was more than happy to oblige. I asked him what he was working on these days and he said something, but again, I blacked out. I rambled on about how I was obsessed with his videos in college and that I went to college in Ohio, so "yay! you made it all the way to the Midwest!" and he laughed at me some more. I love making people laugh who make me laugh. I'm pretty sure he would have continued talking with me as long as I wanted (he seemed genuinely surprised to be recognized/fawned over), but I didn't know what else to say and Kyle was getting hungry, so I wrapped it up.

Again, I forgot to mention my blog in the chaos of my fandom, but I'm pretty sure stuff like this happens in three's, which means I still have a chance at striking the big time. Or maybe I'M the third. OMG. Meta, you guys.

What famous people have you met?? Were they cool IRL?? Where did you meet them???
