California Love

{I made it!}

In case you missed my Blushington, celebrity sighting, or In-N-Out Burger recaps, I should probably let you know that I went to California last weekend for Labor Day with Kyle to visit his brother and sister-in-law. I think I was meant to live in LA--there's ridiculously delicious food, unreal humidity-free weather, and of course, ridiculously good looking people everywhere. Here are a few of the photos I felt compelled to share with you.
 {Venice Beach's famous Muscle Beach gym. I was actually really
unimpressed with the specimens working out, so it was only kind of intriguing.}
 {A real live "Freak Show" in Venice. I promise you don't have to pay an admission to see freaks here.}
 {There's an amazing outdoor gym/playground situation close to Santa Monica with rings, bars, and ropes to climb. It's all free. And if you use it, you're probably a douchebag. Just sayin'!}
 {Next to the gym/playground is this grassy knoll where people practice yoga and acrobatics and general attention-seeking behavior. Here's an old guy doing a handstand!}
 {Obligatory beach shot. Those mountains over there are supposedly Malibu. That's where the rich people live. We didn't have the chance to make it to the 'bu, but it will be one of the first spots I hit on my next visit.}
 {Not only is there a ferris wheel on the Santa Monica pier, there's also a roller coaster and other rides. It's like a full carnival every day.}
 {Like I said...weirdos all over the beach.}
 {At the Grove, this guy's only job is to stand here and be gawked at by passers-by. I told him he was doing a great job.}
 {At Dylan's Candy Bar, a dollar got you a marshmallow, pretzel rod, or rice krispie treat passed through a waterfall of chocolate. I had a chocolate-covered marshmallow while Kyle had a pretzel rod.}
{Obligatory blogger macaron shot.}
{My outfit on the last night out--I couldn't help but break out the oxblood jeans in anticipation of fall. They, along with this blush top (similar) are probably the most amazing Forever 21 finds I've ever encountered. The jeans (similar) are unbelievable comfortable, and at $15, I'm planning on getting them in every color.}

Mostly I love that you hiked up to the Hollywood sign in a full face of makeup. How far was it? I bet james would work out in that outdoor park if he had the chance...

1. Love the outfit. Those pants with your shoemint wedges are a perfect transitional match!
2. Looks like so much fun! I can't wait until Mike is done with school so we can finally vacation!

Malibu is amazing. The weird thing is there are really no apartments or condos in Malibu so if you live there, you live in a giant house or in Santa Monica. Ah, I miss LA.

Such great pictures! Looks like there was more to see and do than a person could manage to see and do in a single day. Your outfit is super adorable. Did you observe anyone stick their finger in that chocolate fountain? I bet that has happened more than once...do they keep it behind a velvet rope?

AH! Seeing those people in the water grosses me out! While it's fun hanging out on the sand and getting tan (if you can get tan, which I can't), the water by Venice & Santa Monica is DIRTY!

We were told to avoid those beaches for swimming by multiple friends when we moved here. The 'Bu has the cleanest, prettiest water-- rich people get the best of EVERYTHING, even the ocean. Life lesson: be rich.

I have been looking at vacation rentals in Santa Monica for a trip I'm planning in the late fall, and this blog post has me super stoked. I can't wait to go to these places. I hate exploring new places as a tourist, and this is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to be inspired by. Also, your outfit is way fab!
